Easy Pizza Dough

Posted on | October 19, 2008 | 1 Comment

I’ve used this pizza dough recipe for so many years, I’m no longer sure where I originally found it. I just know It’s cheap, easy and tastes delicious every time.

Ingredients

     1 1/4 cup water

1 scant tablespoon yeast or 1 envelope yeast

     1 teaspoon water

     1 teaspoon salt

     2 tablespoons olive oil

     1 cup bread flour

     1 cup all-purpose flour

      extra flour

Directions

In a large bowl, soften yeast by combining it with water and sugar.

Let stand for five minutes and then stir in salt, oil, and both cups of flour. Beat well.

To make a stiff dough, add 3/4 to 1 cup extra flour.

On a lightly floured surface, kneed till smooth.  Place in an oiled plastic bag and let rise till doubled (30-45 minutes). Punch down and use.

Bake at 450 degrees.

Note: I frequently double this recipe and freeze the extras. Just place each half of the dough in a separate bag.

I use something like this too. I put a lot of vegies in the pizza (included grated green squash (kishuim)… best way I know to get vegetables into my kids! Makes a great supper and a greater melavah malka.
