Five years ago, it was hard to find even one free skirt pattern on the internet. Nowadays, dozens of free skirt patterns abound.
For beginners, try a simple elastic waistband skirt or a pillowcase skirt. Advanced seamstresses might enjoys trying their hand at an a-line skirt or an 8-gore skirt. Some experts may want to advance their skills by learning to draft easy patterns completely from scratch. Just determine your skill level, pick out some wonderful fabric, and get started!

Thank you so much for this! I’ve got links all randomly saved on my computer and this will be a much better resource when the sewing bug bites (which happens every spring when weather is too yucky to head out much)
To Vera, there are at least 3 circle skirts listed as well as a half-circle skirt. Unless I misunderstood your post?

to many years ago in my Home Ec Sewing class, we made a box pleated skirt without a pattern, just using measurments. Am teaching my grand daughter to sew and would love to be able to pass the pattern on to her. There must be someone out there that knows how to make this skirt. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking a fleece maxi skirt would be a great alternative to those snuggle blankets that are so popular. Finding a very simple pattern has been a challenge, especially for this beginner sewer. Suggestions and simple patterns would be so welcome.

Love this website! Thanks so much. Now if I can just utilize it! I still haven’t finished the pullover hoodie I was knitting for my daughter last fall…. I know, maybe when I’m a senior citizen in my 70s it’ll get finished!
